Rainbow Reflector
Autumn 2001 The RoundupBy Larry Reinhold
Though this was Danny Reinhold’s second year of camp, he doesn’t remember the first year being quite so much fun.
“You get to know so many nice people,” stated Danny in his own particular style. “I am planning to come again next year, as well.”
Danny thought it was great to have so many big friends, and now that camp is over he is particularly enjoying the company of his sisters. They still play camp and each one of them have ideas on what role they will play down the road at Rainbow Bible Ranch.
Paul Daily and members of the Wild Horse Ministries from Trout, LA spent the Fourth of July with us and what a wonderful day that turned out to be. A nice sized crowd watched as Paul worked a colt in the round pen. He gave a very good message of how that two year old filly responded to the pressures of training and how that compared to an individual's relationship with Jesus.
This family of believers has become very special to us and our prayers continue with them. The evening was filled with fireworks, food and fun and the day totaled up to be a very special birthday party for the United States of America.
Another term of Legacy III came to a conclusion this past spring and upon the participants’ involvement in the camping season, they qualify for the awards and scholarships that are available. Each student completed over 110 hours of class time in the practical training that came from being involved at various levels of Rainbow Bible Ranch. These are a great bunch of young people and it was truly a joy to serve with them during the 2001 season. The recipient of the Tige and Vicky Reinhold scholarship was Andy Friederich. The $500.00 award is presented to a student who has put out an extra effort and shown a desire to grow in Christ.
Chelsea Hahn received the Harold Churchwell award. Chelsea earned the $100.00 award for her determination and willingness.
The Lonetree award is given to the individual that uses the working ranch setting of Lonetree Ranch and blends it with the ministry of Rainbow Bible Ranch. Jason Morris, who was the head wrangler, received this $300.00 award.
Our hats are tipped to all that earned their RBR Jackets as well. Along with the three mentioned above, other Legacy III members that qualified were Megan Amdahl, Anna Walker, David Friederich, Gabe Doerksen, Wayne Robison and Andrew Dusing.
God is thrilled when a spiritual heritage is carried on from generation to generation. After completing 22 years of camp, it is truly a joy when we see the next generation of Rainbow Kids come on the scene, as well. We had several children in attendance whose parents were campers in earlier day. Lauren Nielsen is one of those. Her dad is Shaun Nielsen who was a camper in the early 80’s. He then joined the staff when he was in high school and college. The story doesn’t end there, however. Carrie Boner worked for many years in the kitchen and in 1992 she became Mrs. Shaun Nielsen.
I know now, when it comes to hearing fish stories from the Nielsen family, I will probably check with Carrie for the facts.
A genuine blessing that we receive is watching our staff grow and mature. Most of “our kids” that work with us each summer were campers at Rainbow in years past. Personally speaking, I have come to accept that we are running two camps: one for the registered campers and one for the everyday training and development of these wonderful young people that are part of our staff. Over the 22 years of operation, we have been blessed by so many and today they are scattered around the world and most are serving the Lord in various capacities.
Just a word about the RBR crew this year. What a pack of potential! We would love to have everyone of them back next year. Their dreams are big and they have hearts to match. They were willing to accept a disciplined lifestyle in order to grow and better be used God. Each and everyday they learned more spiritually and mentally. Physically they were more capable with each passing day.
On behalf of the family here at Rainbow, I want to express my thanks personally to the 2001 crew and let me challenge you to continue to “Ride with the King.”
