Tiptoe to See What is Next    By Larry B. Reinhold

Not just another article on prayer

“The idea of standing on tiptoe to see what God is going to do next, can transform our way of seeing.”

Harold L. Myra penned these words as he wrote about prayer. Oh, the power of prayer! And yet as much as we agree that prayer is important, many of us have exiled it to no more than a rigid formality, a few words to break the monotony, or worse yet, a magic formula that when recited in a certain order, we get what we want.

It is none of these, but rather communication with God (both talking and listening). It is the looking glass that we look through in order to see and understand God’s perspective. It is our expression of desire to align ourselves with Him.

As a parent of three children that are still much smaller than I, it is enjoyable to watch them go through all the moves to see things as I do. I do have the advantage. However, some of my greatest joy is in watching them climb up, tiptoe or even ask me to lift them up so they may experience what I am seeing. I am not the only parent that is moved by the tugging of the heartstrings by a child full of anticipation of something “greater”.

God our Father is also moved by our tugging at His heartstrings to see life from His viewpoint. Prayer is vital in our continued growth as His children. It is imperative that Bible study and prayer go hand in hand. God's Word is God’s perspective.

When was the last time you tiptoed to see what God had for us? When were we last excited about aligning with the great and mighty God? When did we last move the heart of God? When was the last time that God moved us? It can all be done in earnest through prayer.
