Rainbow Reflector Winter 2001

Homestead Happenings

By Larry Reinhold

It has been busy around the ranch; however, these are exciting times! In this whirlwind of activity, we are not bothered because we know how Jesus can handle those storms.

When we first discussed adding on to our current Rainbow building about ten years ago, it seemed a dream. In January 2000 at one of our Board meetings it looked as if it were a possibility. In September after our busiest camp season ever, it appeared as a necessity. Today it is reality.

We have been so encouraged by the response of so many of you in helping make this happen. God has blessed abundantly. We have much to do in the next three months, but Lord willing we will have the kitchen/dining room up and going. Please pray with us that progress would continue and that the needs would be met.

We would love to give each of you a tour of the progression. We know that is not possible, but we have included many pictures that I am sure you will enjoy.

Last year, I told the Board of Directors and a few other folks that I felt as if Rainbow Bible Ranch had reached a certain plateau. I never did believe we had reached a peak; however, I knew in my heart that we had opportunities that needed to be explored that would tend to dictate our future ministry and outreach. God has made some things very clear that He has some real plans to fulfill in this ministry. We will not just “exist” but we will continue as God leads to perpetuate the Gospel and to give God the Glory He deserves.

Some have asked me if we take more campers since we have expanded the facility. The answer is very few if any. Our main purpose again is to give the young people and staff a better atmosphere. We still hold to the fact that this is a camp on a working family ranch and we want kids to experience that. We will continue to shoot at that 400 - 450 in attendance per summer If we go beyond our current numbers we will have to change our focus.

I would be glad to discuss the operation of Rainbow Bible Ranch with anyone. If you have questions, feel free to write me or call me at (605) 923-2367.

I am continually impressed by the blessings of family and the importance of making sure that this “unit” stays as God planned it.

We had the privilege in the middle of January to have a celebration for Robin’s parents, Jack and Ellen Paulton, in Hot Springs for their 50th Anniversary. They have been good examples and good friends. I also wanted to share with you a picture of Tige and Vicky Reinhold, who as most of you know are the parents of Lana Morris and myself. Mom and Dad started their lives out together 45 years ago. At God’s leading they shared their ranch with Rainbow Bible Ranch and have been active ever since.

I am blessed, to say the least. Take time to appreciate your parents. As the war with time starts to take its toll it is very important that we share with them our thoughts and feelings, as well as our gratitude.
