Shine as the Stars

By Larry B. Reinhold

About 2:30 this morning I had to make a check on the stock, as we are calving and foaling. As I climbed over the fence in the moonlit darkness, I was struck by the beauty and brightness of several stars over the western horizon. In the stark blackness, they sparkled as diamonds. I could not help but smile in realization that these heavenly bodies that were light years away left me somewhat awestruck by their presence.

I have always been an admirer of the Rough Rider President, Teddy Roosevelt. He stated once, “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” God has put each one of us on this earth for a purpose. And when it is His purpose, that we make our business, we become as those stars in a dark night.

“Whether you think you can, or that you can’t, you are usually right,” stated Henry Ford. Mr. Ford was a much better automobile maker than a theologian, but I think his little quip carries a lot of truth.

What holds us back from being stars in the first place? We all agree that this world with its overbearing darkness could use some more stars to lighten the face of its inhabitants.

Why not take some time and contemplate the purpose and magnitude of your life. Communicate with the Almighty Creator and seek His wisdom and guidance.

In Matthew 5:14 -16 Jesus states that, “You are the light of the world….Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is heaven.”
