RAINBOW REFLECTOR - The Newsletter for Rainbow Bible Ranch
Rainbow Reflector
Winter 2002 The RoundupBy Larry Reinhold
He is commonly hailed as the "Prince of Preachers". Over 63 volumes of published sermons still bear witness to the richness and success of C.H. Spurgeon's ministry. Though known as a great preacher, it was not preaching that made Spurgeon great. Mr. Spurgeon repeatedly acknowledged his success as the direct result of his congregation's faithful prayers. Spurgeon in his autobiography described his gratefulness for being blessed with such a praying church. "I always give all the glory to God, but I do not forget that He gave me the privilege of ministering from the first to a praying people. We had prayer meetings that moved our very souls, each one appeared determined to storm the Celestial City by the might of intercession."
Prayer is essential to the ministry of RBR. To be sure we have been blessed by many “Partners unto the Harvest by Prayer”. However, Prayer Partners for Legacy take a very active part and maintain an ongoing ministry. Over the years we have sought out individuals that will “adopt” one of our Legacy II participants and commit to pray for them and will also establish a line of communication through letters, cards, email, etc. for the express purpose of encouragement. We would like to expand this outreach to include not only Legacy II participants, but also all other Legacy members as well as summer staff. The total number of Prayer Partners for Legacy (PeoPLe) would be around 100 individuals. Please consider this ministry and let us know if you would help in this way. We will be contacting some folks that have been involved before, however we will need many more that will be “determined to storm the Celestial City by the might of intercession.”
Recently the Board of Rainbow Bible Ranch met for our 23rd Annual Meeting. Plans for the year were outlined and it was very obvious that the operation of RBR includes sincere efforts from many fine folks. The discussion included the need for qualified staff and the procedures used to prepare them for service. We are extremely pleased that so many of our summer staff continue to be young people that have been associated with Rainbow for numerous years. Recently, I was involved in the wedding of two former camper/staff members. I related to the audience and to them of the privilege of knowing them for so many years early on as campers and most recently as comrades working together ministering to children and teens at Rainbow Bible Ranch. These are goals of RBR. The Board also discussed the need to involve many in the financial support of Rainbow. We continually desire to keep the fees at RBR affordable. It is because of the faithfulness of so many that we do not have to raise our fees this year, even though we are coming off a major expansion program and have planned some much needed renovation and remodeling. Simply stated, this takes money. It is the desire of the Board to provide a memorable time for all campers and to continue our endeavor of being servants of Jesus Christ, blooming where He has planted us.
We extend a heartfelt Dakota thank you to all Partners Unto the Harvest for your involvement in 2001 and look forward to pressing on in 2002.

Each of the titles above represent a theme that has been developed exclusively and used during a season of camp at Rainbow. Starting in 1991 we decided to depart from our normal way of doing camp and follow a theme that the staff could prepare for ahead of time, and present on a consistent basis week to week. Previously, we invited many fine speakers to share throughout the summer, but that was difficult for the counselors and staff as they would have to follow a different topic for every session of camp. By going to a yearly theme, we were able to compose a song and develop a Growth Guide that could be used each week. Needless to say, the songs have been very well accepted. We have one set of Scripture memory work to promote and it allows Chris and Larry to present their messages to compliment what the individual group leaders are doing. The Growth Guide is a hand book that has grown to over 80 pages and provides not only a place to take notes and do daily Quiet Times, but also provide much information that can be used while they are at the Ranch. It lends itself to being a great reminder for when the campers return home.
We would like to enhance our yearly theme by adding some color. We already illustrate our theme which ends up on our T-shirts that we sell. But this year we would like to make a banner that we could hang up as a constant reminder to what our goal is. We would also like to add some color to the Growth Guide so that it will work even better as an educational tool. If you would be able to help finance this task or could offer technical or artistic support, please let us know.
During the month of February and March we will be working hard on our remodeling jobs that are outlined to the right. We currently have approximately 25% of the funds and or materials to finish the tasks as listed. I don’t want to beat a dead horse (matter of fact, I don’t like beating any horse) but we do have a need here. Good help and contributions are hard to turn down. Some of this project is way overdue in terms of addressing the need.
Prayerfully consider what part God would have you do in Meeting the Need for the 21st Century.
