Rainbow Reflector
Thanksgiving/Christmas 2003The Call Higher
By Larry B. Reinhold

We are now at two months past the last day of the 2003 camp season. God definitely blessed our 24th season of camping for which we are grateful. Many lives were touched and eternity in heaven will never be the same.
As you can see in the picture above, Grandma stayed true to form as she put in many faithful hours. It was a joy for her to see her seventh grandchild experience the unique setting of ministry on the family ranch. Caleb sure did get lots of attention. Our prayer is that he will seek after God’s ways and grow in the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is obvious that Grandma Vicky has that desire as well. Our theme this summer was “Journey With Jesus”. The words from our theme song that was written by Robin are very meaningful. “The wind upon my face, Stormy days ahead; Running in the race, Faithful to the end. I travel through this life, I never walk alone; Through the joys and strife, He’ll lead me safely Home.”
On September 9, 2003 Grandma and the family received the stunning news that she had cancer. She had heard that news before, but that was nearly 22 years ago. Our dear friend, Dr. Stocks shared the news with disbelief as she had a good checkup in February. The CT Scan showed a tumor in the lung, as well as a spot on the liver and kidney. Grandma did take 10 days of radiation for the tumor in the lung to help relieve the pressure there. The outlook was given that she would have perhaps a month to a year to walk this earth.
We have seen a huge amount of support for Grandma from day one. Even more phenomenal, is the prayer support that is given. Prayer – That wonderful communion with the Almighty God. We cry out for her healing and her comfort. We fervently ask for encouragement; not only for Grandma and the family, but that others would be encouraged and brought into a relationship with Jesus. We ask that you would join us in prayer for Grandma and the family. Please pray for Grandpa Tige as they have walked the path of life for over 48 years together. Please pray for Rainbow Bible Ranch as Grandma handled nearly all the personal correspondence. She wrote nearly 800 handwritten from-the-heart, letters per year. Grandma also handled the Mailbox Club where she kept in touch with nearly 80 children throughout the off season. And who can count the hours that she kept during the camping season. Please pray for the ranch and all the activities that still shout for attention. And please pray for all that have been a part of this lady’s remarkable life. The hurt is truly there.
Grandma has had some tough times. The Hospice program is very helpful. Lana has spent many hours with the folks, which has been good. Grandma has no fear of dying; however, she feels the pain of the ones who are left, perhaps because she has been there. When she crosses over to the other side, she will see her blessed Savior. Jesus has given her not only a hope for eternity, but an abundant life here on this earth. When she crosses over to the other side, she will also see countless family members and friends, and she will see her three sons Danny, Lyle and Lee. Ah – won’t heaven be all that much more glorious. The “Journey With Jesus” is leading home. The chorus to our theme song at camp is fitting as well….. ”On This journey – I follow the One Who know the way. I’ll keep trusting, He shows me the steps that I should take. Over mountaintops and valleys low, across the prairies wide, On this journey with Jesus by my side. LBR
