OPPORTUNITY

The past week brought some great opportunities and privileges. This past Tuesday, I conducted a funeral service in honor of the life and memory of an elderly lady that lived a full nine plus decades on this earth. Her family has been friends for as long as I can remember. My heart is nearly overwhelmed when I am asked to be a part of a memorial service, especially when the deceased here has simply crossed over into the arms of Jesus. The realization and reality of eternal life through Christ is amazing.

On Friday, I spoke in a chapel service of a local school. Now this ranks high on my list of privileges. When you stand before a bunch of kids and you see those beaming faces and twinkling eyes and many of them know you from camp… well, it is quite an experience. As I have been doing for nearly 40 years, I tell the kids of numerous reasons why we would love to have them as guests at RBR this summer. I generally try to do more than a commercial though. I want to leave them with a biblical perspective on something that I have encountered in my walk with Christ. Yes, I look forward to seeing many of these kids at camp and yes, I generally leave with a little more spring in my step since their youthfulness is good for one’s soul.
