Harvest Celebration 1979 & 1980

"We should never be done... However we should be getting closer to the finish line."

***

These are the words that crossed my mind as I was going through and organizing some old photos and recollections. This is singing group that we had come to the ranch in 1980. "Harvest Celebration" not only did a concert at RBR for us, but we had them do a concert in the gymnasium of Sturgis Brown High School one evening just months after my brother's passing. My mother, Vicky Reinhold, did most of the organizing of that concert. She expressed a desire to share with the Sturgis Community and especially the young people that were near and dear to my brother, Lee, along with his friend Wayne Brost, and my brother Lyle as well. Lee and Wayne had just graduated in that auditorium just months before. The concert was very well attended, I might add.

When "Harvest Celebration" presented at RBR... we were brand new and certainly still under construction. We had conducted two week long camps... a couple of retreats... and had started our Friday Nite Fellowships. The crowd of nearly 200 enjoyed the music on a warm summer nite. As I looked at this photo, I saw the unfinished ceiling with the insulation still exposed and that is when I said to myself, "Oh, we did not have the ceiling done yet!" My conversation with myself continued with, "I guess we have never been 'done' at RBR... however, we are closing in on the finish line".

I am certain that God put those added thoughts into my mind this morning during the darkness of the five o'clock hour. And each day... may I realize that my race is not complete... however, I am closing in on the finish line.
