The Paul Family

Around thirty years ago, we enjoyed the presence of Weston and Jenna... a brother/sister team that you just could not help but like. Lots of smiles... fun to be around... liked the horses alot. But, I always appreciated their parents so much, as well. Their mother had a vibrant way about her and as time went on, my admiration for her increased. You see, Weston and Jenna's, Dad... Mariella's husband had a debilitating disease that wreaked havoc to his body. John Paul went from a picture of health... a cowboy with a huge heart and capability to match to one crippled. I was always amazed that even though his body was failing... his spirit exuded a joy that could only come from his faith in Christ.

Today, Mariella and another dear friend came out to the ranch. 13 years ago today, John made his entrance into Glory... no longer entrapped in this earthly body. It was certainly special to have her visit. She left something special to honor the life and memory of her dear husband in hopes that a child will experience a special time at RBR as well. To God be the glory.

Just before Mariella left, she shared how she had heard my mother speak in 1980 at a women's luncheon. She commented on the amazing peace that Mom presented at a time only around a year after the death of her sons, Lyle and Lee. Mariella also noted Lana and Heidi shared that same peace as they sang.

Thank you to the Paul family for the encouragement today... ***

Hebrews 12:1-3

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
