Camp has been in full swing for around a month now. Sessions have been at capacity. We have had some outstanding youth in attendance. With that said, our staff has been serving at 110%, which is what we aim for when we have campers here at the ranch. However the whole story would be that most of the crew are called upon to perform extra duties due to the reality that we could sure use two more full time members….
July 13….. Legacy I was a fantastic camp session with 53 kids from as far way as Arizona and Germany. With this camp I speak five to six more times. But our challenge again was calling for extra duty of the crew. One of our guys that is part of our all around crew went to Montana over the Fourth of July for a wedding. On his way back last weekend, be was not feeling well and he checked in at Billings and discovered he had Lyme disease from tick bite that he had when he was home in Montana. We just doubled down and then we were hit with the hot temps. Our rodeo on Saturday was held as the thermometer hit 103 degrees. Sunday, we hit 107 and the forecast is for hundred plus temps along with high fire danger. Our teens register this evening and we have already made plans to change the riding schedule to include before breakfast rides.
Honestly, my concern is for my family and staff. I pray they remain strong as we have four weeks to go. I pray that they are encouraged and that they realize the blessings and rewards that come with working and sharing the Good News. Their hearts are right. I continually am amazed by the way God works through them. Please pray for them and if God lays some form of encouragement upon your heart to share with the crew… it would certainly be appreciated.
My friend Jay called on Saturday nite after all the kids went home. We graduated from High School together and then he was part of our staff in the early 1980’s. He continues to support the work here along with so many other faithful partners in the ministry. He also writes amazing letters nearly every month that includes valuable insight and thoughtful words. Our conversation was ending as I said that we had finished our fifth week of camp in our 47th year of ministry. Again, he expressed his gratefulness to the Lord, myself, and the RBR crew. I could not help but express my gratitude to him as well. He may not serve on the front line but his prayers, financial support and words of encouragement are vital to the outreach. The same goes for many of you reading this letter. Even though I may not say it often enough… you are huge in the ongoing ministry of Rainbow Bible Ranch. We are hoping to get caught up and thus be able to send a Rainbow Reflector following the camping season. I strive to keep our website up to date and I stay very active on Facebook. In closing, I wish to let you know that our theme for 2026 is “Good News”. The Gospel is presented all the way back to the beginning in the book of Genesis. We start there realizing the sinfulness of mankind. We share from the chapter of Isaiah 53 which is overwhelming prophecy of the Good News. I enjoy sharing the accounts of the Ethiopian and Philip and of Paul and Silas and Phillippian jailer. I share of Nicodemus in John 3. Yes they are just good “old Sunday School stories” that proclaim the Good News. Along with that our Quiet Time and missionary moments provide for opportunity for the Holy Spirit to speak to our campers. And we also have our “family devotions” after breakfast each day where Robin reads a Scripture passage and a timely story to the campers and staff. We do this in the setting of the ranch where I like to say…. “Where western tradition and biblical values are lived out each day”.
Thank you for allowing me to share my heart… even though it took nearly two weeks to do so. To God be the Glory… Great things He continues to do.
