It's been a few weeks now since both kids have been home from their respective weeks at Rainbow Bible Ranch. I think it's taken me this long to gather my thoughts on their experiences. It is without question, the highlight of their summer. Words fail me when I think of all this camp has come to mean to our family these past four summers. In June of 2023, we received Chris's diagnosis. That evening we drove kids to camp for the first time. God doesn't do things by chance, there are no coincidences. He placed this camp in the lives of our children for a reason. They have grown spiritually every summer. When I've been worried they would be homesick and miserable, I arrive at camp to tears of sadness that its already over as they hug friends goodbye from across the country. The friendships are real because the conversations are real. They get into the Word and learn and grow together. They talk about things that matter. They accomplish things that matter. They have the absolute best role models to look up to in the staff at Rainbow. When the world tells our teens to act and think worldly, these amazing young adults lead by example how to live for Christ.
Yes, God gave our family this camp because He knew we needed it. When life is hard and ever changing, this camp has been there since the beginning to give them something constant. Something that draws them back to Christ and keeps all of us looking up, not at the chaos around us.
On top of all the growth, they have a ton of FUN!
At Gus's teen camp, he won the poles in the boys division.
At Helen's Legacy II Camp, she placed in the poles, her team placed third in the team penning, first in the double mugging and she made it into the semi-finals in the discussions. (Debates/discussions based off of political and Biblical topics).
I guess this goes without saying, but I hope the Rainbow crew is ready for the Olson teens again! They are already putting their dollars away to save for next summer!
