Wow... Is this really that long ago?

We had two camp sessions in 1980 which was our first year of camp at RBR.

27 campers total.

This is one of the groups that we "practiced" on. It is highly probably that all came out for the better.

Project today... Resetting the posts for the dock at Reinhold Lake. And not just that... About 5 loads of very nice rock (river rock) that we spread on the west side. On the east side we will put a concrete pad to put the boat and pontoon in more easily. The decking will be added soon. We hope to haul some more of our gravel down soon to make for better shoreline for the kids to fish from as well. This is all taking place because the silent auction at the Annual Game Feed was such a success. So many good folks working together to make RBR a fun place for the kids. And yes the water level is down... But God can fill it up... and yes it is a good time to do these sort of projects.
The family enjoyed the privilege of being a part of the service this morning at the The Little White Church in Hill City, SD. This community in the Heart of the Hills has seen many kids attend RBR over the last four plus decades.
I can hardly wait to be horseback again in the arena with a bunch of great kids at RBR.
It is raining as I write this, however so lightly, but very welcome indeed. Our region remains so dry and that is why the need for moisture is a major prayer request. I often say, “I don’t know what we are going to do… but God does.” In situations such as severe drought, one is reminded of how finite we are. I will not say that God is intentionally using this dry spell only to draw us closer to Him; however, we can choose to allow these dire situations to set our intent upon Him ever so much greater. No doubt, you are experiencing certain trials and difficulties in your life as well. I am reminded of the words of the hymn, “Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full into His wonderful face… and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.”
It won't be long and there will lots of "Happy Campers" in the barns, corrals and arenas of the Ranch. But now it is just pretty much family. We so enjoy what we do and where we live... and yes... we enjoy sharing this with lots and lots of kids in the summer.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

Salvation is only possible when one puts his or her trust in Jesus Christ and recognizes through faith that by the grace of God. Eternity with God is unobtainable upon our own merit.

My mom... and "Grandma" to our kids and for that matter... hundreds of kids from all over the country and around the world.

I just received word that my cousin, LeRoy's wife passed away from cancer. She was only 68 years old... Just like my mom. Had "beat" breast cancer years before... just like my mom. And then the cancer came back... just like my mom.

I am not going to get on any soapbox... or share the pain and anxiety that comes with that dreaded disease... I don't wear pink... or tell you....

I just want to say... Don't "spare" the love when it comes to your family. Count everyday a blessing... whether in sickness or health...
And thank God continually for those that He has given to you as family.

1. RBR was blessed to be able to share eleven $250.00 sponsorships to families toward camp in 2022.
Wow! The past nine days were fantastic...The Black Hills Stock was very successful as we visited with countless people. Ministry... memories... encouragement... education... Old friends... New friends...

I am so grateful for family and friends that assisted in the operation of the display as well as programs and services.
My life shall touch a million lives in some way ere I go
From this dear world of struggle to the land I do not know.
So this the wish I always wish, the prayer I ever pray:

How is this one for 2022?

Proverbs 20:22 may be a go to verse for many of us.
"Do not say, “I’ll pay you back for this wrong!”
Wait for the Lord, and he will avenge you."

Often times we "take matters into our own hands". And often times those matters just go from bad to worse.
***
The "wrongs" that we may experience may be big..
The "wrongs" may be someone taking advantage of us.
The "wrongs" may have been going on for weeks, months or even years.
And then some of the "wrongs" may be just plain annoying.

So the next time you want to "get even"... or "demand or own rights"... or may be even enter into a state of denial... Remember, God has your back... He is also riding point...

So in 2022... Remember 20:22... Proverbs 20:22, that is.

It has been a week since the funeral for Emanuel Jacob.

Not quite the way we planned.
However, we "press on".
In the hope of God's peace.

Not that this isn't hard. After all Christmas is just around the corner. We looked forward to celebrating. And another thing... It is hard to see your kids hurt. Not just Molly and Jacob but all the brothers and sisters that were so looking forward to meeting the new addition to the family.
