Appreciates Men's Day

Just received this nice note of appreciation...

"I wanted to thank you for everything you all did for the "MEN'S DAY" that you have each year. You made a difference in my life. For that I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and God bless."

"To God be the glory... great things He continues to do". Men's Day is annual event here at the ranch.

THE COMING OF WINTER

For nearly six decades I have pondered
When the shadows cast nearly north.
And the sun catches the distant horizon
And the days of winter now set forth.

The winter solstice has me asking
What is it about the enduring night?
That sets in at the end of each day
When the darkness outlasts the light.

The "North Country" is where I call home.
Often, sunup to sundown happens to be my clock.
It is no use to fret that the day is done.
Makes little difference on the path I walk.

So, I will take each moment in stride.
Perhaps the seasons say it best.
The days of summer I work long and hard.
The days of winter it is time to ponder and rest.

I am reminded a lesson to adhere.
To everything there is a reason,
As the Scripture of old clearly states
To the passage of day and of each season.

Birthday in the Barn with Our Cowboy Wisemen

No need to leave room for cream

Black hot and stout is the way to go

Under the moon and stars is a dream

A reminding light to the world below.

The birth of God's Son is joy to most

From shepherds to the distant wise men.

And don't the forget the Heavenly host.

And the hope shared to neighbors and kin.

Just as the cowboys that lived decades ago

Fellowship and warmth beneath big sky above.

They talked of new life in a manger low

And the hope of eternal life in God's love

The Birthday in the Barn Celebration at RBR

THE SHEPHERDS...

Contrary to what some say today... the shepherds and herdsmen around the town of Bethlehem and surrounding hillsides were far from nobodies. They knew that they came from a long line of caretakers of livestock... Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Amos... just to name a few. Their lifestyle was not posh.. and they did not want that. They were the ones that raised the food as well as the ones that kept watch over the sacrificial lambs and other animals. God only saw fit to announce the birth of His Son to these meek (power under control) and thoughtful people... the guardians of the flocks and herds. And they were not so preoccupied with self that they could not catch the message... the One that born that night in the City of David.. a Savior... Christ the Lord.. .the Kings of Kings... the "Lamb" of God. Wow!

To Consider

"Don’t Take Criticism from Someone You Wouldn’t Let Ride Your Horse."

***

I heard that said the other day and I nodded in agreement. Now, I will clarify that there are folks out there that I appreciate greatly and they won't even come near a horse. But the statement is about trust and confidence and when it comes to riding my horse... You won't get to unless I have confidence in your ability and who you are.

***

There is plenty of criticism out there and I have given my share, that I am quite sure of. Constructive criticism is valuable... and then there is the other kind that is unwarranted. When that "advice" comes my way, I do well to consider the source and heed what value that is within. Personally, I will always seek to apply biblical principle and discernment to that which is offered as well.

***

Horsemanship has been a part of my entire life... and there have been scores of horses come my way... And I have "experienced many people"... I will go back to the opening statement and grant that there is element of truth within. However, I will say this in closing... surround yourself with individuals with foundation that is deep... experience that is admirable... heart for what is good... trust that they have your back... an attitude that is not flippant... goals that are not self-serving... And maybe still not a bad idea... "Would you let them ride your horse?"

Our Dear Friend Kenny

Our dear friend went to be with Jesus about a week and a half ago. To say "went" to be with Jesus is not completely accurate... Kenny Wintersteen lived for Jesus and was with Jesus in his daily walk here on this earth. One probably should say that Ken passed over into Glory... "Crossed over the River"...

***

Our family and so many others loved this man and his wife, Lynn, dearly. Kenny left an undeniable mark upon the Reinholds and Rainbow Bible Ranch. We enjoyed his family's presence as campers... We enjoyed their full support and promotion.... We enjoyed his fellowship in his home and at ours.... We shared the pulpit together with a number of congregations.... We enjoyed meals together... at home... at cafes... at potlucks... We enjoyed his wit and wisdom as he spoke at RBR events.... And we enjoyed his dear friendship... whether at the sale barn in Menno... at the Stock Show... at the kitchen table ... or in the living room. When the family heard of his passing... tears came easily for each one of us.. immediately followed by memories.

Our love goes out to the family of #89 Kenny... "Thank you for a life well lived"

Legacy III

Legacy III Bible Study with a great group of young men and women. Robin and I are so blessed to meet with them. The other nite was so pleasant that we did part of our study outdoors at @Main Street Square In Rapid City. We sure appreciate Alternative Fuel Coffee and Smoothies for welcoming us each week.

My Parents

Photos of Voreta Rae "Vicky" and Marvin Eugene "Tige"....

I shared yesterday of conversations I had with people from other parts of the country about my parents, Tige and Vicky Reinhold. Sometimes we forget that they were "young and full of dreams" at one time, as well. We remember them as Grandpa and Grandma... and with gray hair... and bodies that were failing. These photos, of my mother and father before they were married, reminds me of how God's plans for an individual plays out over a lifetime. Today if you are wondering about your journey... Don't give up... Don't quit... God wants to work in and through you. My Dad and Mom were good examples to me.... and I am forever grateful.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

It is a Tradition

It is a tradition for the family on the last nite of the camp season to mount up and take the camp remuda over east to pasture. The horses seem to know that have capped off a summer of being equine friends to hundreds of kids from around the country. The family and staff of RBR are grateful to this fine string of saddle horses that have provided a good experience to our "camp Kids".

***

Simply stated, "We love and appreciate our horses".

From the Book of Job in the Bible....

“Do you give the horse its strength

or clothe its neck with a flowing mane?

Do you make it leap like a locust,

striking terror with its proud snorting?

It paws fiercely, rejoicing in its strength,

and charges into the fray.

It laughs at fear, afraid of nothing;

it does not shy away from the sword.

The quiver rattles against its side,

along with the flashing spear and lance.

In frenzied excitement it eats up the ground;

it cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds.

At the blast of the trumpet it snorts, ‘Aha!’

It catches the scent of battle from afar,

the shout of commanders and the battle cry.
