RESPECT

Much of that which is so disheartening in our nation today can be traced back to the fact that there is a lack of respect for one another. I am certain that lives impacted by the Gospel of Jesus Christ would alter this situation greatly as repentance and transformation would bring a renewing of our mindset. Many within humanity will reject this life changing hope offered by the Almighty God.

Our next step is simply to respect individuals and institutions which have been placed in our daily walk. By our actions and our deeds, we will demonstrate the value of respect and the significance to those within our society.

Respect is a mighty tool. To some, respectfulness will not only be ignored but will be trampled upon. For those individuals, as they choose, our respect will cause us to let their story be written and their end to be in shame; but not because we did not attempt. But many will gravitate toward respect since it is essentially based in love and appreciation.

Our hope at Rainbow Bible Ranch is that respect and graciousness will cause each girl and boy, each man and woman that comes into our presence to leave with a heart softened and a mind brought into thoughtfulness because they have been impressed by the influence of respect. And I know that a heart that has not been calloused and hardened is one that can be molded. Hardened and calloused hearts brought upon by personal disregard for others and God is not impossible to transform, but the prognosis is often destruction.

DISCORD IN THE ORCHESTRA

IMG_4206.jpg

The hour is late and I tune into to listen to a classical piece of music playing. At times, one instrument is seemingly the center of the arrangement and then later another may take preeminence. It is still amazing to hear many different musical instruments playing many different notes come into harmony by the directive of skilled musicians taking their prompting from a composer that may not even be present. However, in agreement these many instruments follow the lead of a skilled conductor to present a piece that inspires
This seems so different than what is taking place in the world around us. God’s masterful composition has certainly been commandeered. It is alarming to observe the carelessness and selfishness of humanity. As Christ-followers, our worldview should run opposite of the accepted practices which run through the veins of humanity that is a lover of self and a pursuer of the prince of this world and the ruler of darkness. Until Christ sets up His Kingdom and Satan is overthrown, there will be discord in the orchestra.  We are not all on the same page and it can be said with certainty that our society today is not following the Master’s directives. This will one day change

COUNT IT ALL JOY

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Valentine Banquet Proved Most Enjoyable

A warm evening despite a wintery night

We had an excellent evening enjoying the Annual Valentine Banquet at Rainbow Bible Ranch. Gary and Lori Wilken did a fine job of speaking and the audience was so appreciative.

A Delightful Setting

IMG_3937.jpg

And Robin Reinhold provided beautiful dinner music. The Valentine Banquet at RBR was certainly a delight.

IMG_3958.jpg

Every banquet needs a couple of hostesses to ensure that the event goes well. Kiersten and Julia helped manage that.

Maysa and Molly had a nice time at the banquet. Lifelong friends. These young ladies are so capable at making those in attendance feel welcome.

Very few fine eating establishments can boast of a set of servers that assisted last evening at the Rainbow Bible Ranch Annual Valentine Banquet. We are certainly grateful for these young gentlemen.

IMG_3929.jpg

Rachel took charge of many of the behind the scenes efforts before and during the banquet. Thanks to all that made the RBR banquet a success.

The Henceys joined us at RBR for the banquet... They are such a good example of the many nice people in attendance.

BLACK HILLS STOCK SHOW OUTREACH

STOCK SHOW REUNION SERVICE

This service is held annually sponsored by Rainbow Bible Ranch & Badlands Cowboys for Christ on the first Sunday of the Black Hills Stock Show.

IMG_3507.jpg

We certainly were blessed to have Neal and Debby Hughes visit us. Neal shared a word of testimony at the Reunion Service and also provided an update on the growing ministry of A Man And A Mountain.

The Black Hills Stock Show is 60 years this year and my dad made sure it was a tradition to attend as a family. I have been able to attend nearly every year.

Family

For several years now, during the stockshow, the Reinhold family has presented a painting to a family that has enjoyed the tradition of the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo, particularly Hereford Day. We do this in honor of Tige Reinhold. This year we honored the Woods family of the Hillsview Ranch. It was a pleasure to present this painting by Bob York to our neighbors.

THE YOUNG LIVING PERCHERONS

IMG_3632.jpg

What can I say... Dan and Kathy Simpson have been "behind the scenes" partners for many years. Simpsons Printing have worked with us on countless projects including the printing of the banner and the photos on canvas featured in our booth at the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo.

Our good friend, Ken Wintersteen, of Olivet, South Dakota demonstrating his skills. Around thirty auctioneers took part, but the young man below taking bids nearly stole the show.

WE LOVE THE STEAK N CAKE

It nearly felt like a day in April. Started quite mild... it even rained lightly. But we knew that our guests would be coming. To cook a good steak over a wood fire meant getting a flame down to red hot coals. Mike Hencey came to help with the grilling as he has done for many event events over the years. Robin had already begun preparing the homemade pancakes with buttermilk as a key ingredient.

Family...

This is what we do...
So thankful that we can work together.

Everyone has a job. Julia and Kiersten work together on preparing the next batch of pancakes.

STEAK N CAKE proved to a great time of fellowship and yes we enjoyed some good food. We served over 100 people. They came from southeastern Montana  and all the way to southeastern South Dakota.

COUNTING BLESSINGS AND MOVING FORWARD

Today I was contemplating our needs and the needs of others and my thought was, “I have limited means.” And right on the heels of that thought was, “But Larry, you serve a limitless God.” I have pondered that all evening and I believe that I must share it with you.

2017 is wrapping up and for each of us, our story would include difficulties: some small and some seemingly insurmountable. However, Robin and I have discussed and in conversations that I have had with others, we cannot ignore the blessings that have come our way as well. Counting blessings and moving forward in gratitude seems to not only brighten the path ahead but also causes us to step out in faith and in confidence. God has this. And my God is limitless.

We are in the midst of the Thanksgiving Season… the Christmas Celebration… and the beginning of another new year. And I have the privilege of serving on the Almighty’s team, and he is a Limitless God. I cannot help but find myself in a celebration of gratefulness as I proceed into the newness of each new day.

We have been busy at RBR with not just projects, but opportunity. It has certainly been rewarding. As I shared with you in a previous letter, 483 children attended camp last summer. That is a new record. It was also the third year in a row that a new record attendance was recorded at Rainbow Bible Ranch. What a tremendous opportunity to impact over 250 families in a very direct and life changing way. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement along the way.

We have also seen a number of successful events at the ranch and God has opened several new outreach occasions. Recently Robin and I were part of some very special services in the southeastern corner of the state. We continue to seek prospective avenues to get the gospel out and to promote the ministry and reach of the Ranch.

We take very serious the aspects of RBR that many may not realize. For instance, we believe we can encourage youth to practice biblical stewardship in the care of the natural world around us. RBR location allows for not only the discussion of this but also the observation and practice. We believe we can give kids a glimpse of agriculture. Only one and half percent of America’s population is involved in production agriculture. While a child is at Rainbow, they can see where that their food does not originate in the grocery store. We teach firearm safety and show them that a rifle is a tool and should be treated as such. We encourage firsthand experience in the outdoors. They will explore and even experience the starry sky as they sleep outdoors. They will be given a good experience on horseback. Horses have proven to be an amazing tool in reaching people of all ages especially youth.

They will be challenged to live life without excuses and encouraged by staff members that care deeply about their daily walk.

Of course we love sharing Jesus with so many. We know Jesus came to fulfill the hope of eternal life. We know that the forgiveness of our Heavenly Father and the peace that passes all understanding is more than refreshing it is rebirth and renewal. We know that Christ came to give life and that we may enjoy life more abundantly. That is exciting.

We are at a place that we must seek where the Lord wants us to go next and what to do. RBR camp numbers can only increase by a few. We cannot increase much more without compromising the camp experience that is currently enjoyed. So the choice is only to better the experience and add impact ministry elsewhere. That is the desire of conducting Sunday Evening services at the Country Chapel. We have some events on the drawing board that will fit in well with the offseason ministry.

This is where we are requesting your help. We need to finish the year strong financially. Currently we are experience a shortfall. That cannot continue. We are at a standstill on the chapel due to added costs. We must keep staff needs in mind… throughout the year and in the summer season. Rainbow Bible Ranch is people and it takes commitment from good people to be effective. And I ask that you pray fervently for drought relief. It has cost us greatly.

I see several projects on the radar that we should consider pursuing. We have some structural issues in the dining room that need repair. Secondly, the possibility of reverse osmosis system on our new well would make a huge difference on the availability of needed water to run an operation as RBR. Personally, I think that this should be high priority. And thirdly, I believe we need to pursue a heating cooling system in the main hall. We have limited heat that is really tested in cold weather and last summer with the heat, we realized the need for some relief due to the heat. I know that this is camp and that the kids should be willing to rough it. However, I would rather “push on them” in ways that offer more “personal growth” returns than being challenged in a hot and stale atmosphere.

The family and staff recognize the team effort of so many to be as effective as possible. God has called us to do some amazing things at Rainbow Bible Ranch.  Let us proceed in faith that God will supply. Help each one of us to put our limited means behind us and make a decision to allow God to use us in limitless ways.

We are starting to receive registrations for next year. Please pray for the kids that will attend. In addition to that, please pray that young people will be sensitive to the leading of God in their life to serve on staff at RBR. Again, good people are vital. We saw that in magnified way this last summer as we had little to no water recreation due to the drought. Yet, the staff worked extremely hard to fill the time with fun activities.

Oh, and that reminds me, we need to be ready. As many of you may remember, we lost all of our fishing opportunities due to drought. We are praying that God will fill up our ponds and reservoirs this spring. Thus we will need to stock them with fish. We must be ready to spend some money on purchasing fish to do so. Let’s trust. Let’s be ready. Let’s take action. Let’s be thankful for what God is going to do.

Let’s be faithful in doing what God has called for us to do in His strength and with His resources and let’s do it with passion.

EXPECTATIONS BY VICKY REINHOLD 1987

It’s Christmas Eve around the world,
Love and joy everywhere does abound;
Little children now are heading to bed,
But will be listening for a special sound.

Their eyes are gazing into the starry night,Looking for Santa and his reindeer;Their ears are listening oh so hardFor sleigh bells that will bring them cheer. They fall asleep at long last,This fantasy will waken them at dawn. The gifts will be laden…

Their eyes are gazing into the starry night,

Looking for Santa and his reindeer;

Their ears are listening oh so hard

For sleigh bells that will bring them cheer.

They fall asleep at long last,

This fantasy will waken them at dawn.

The gifts will be laden under the tree

And Santa supposedly came and now is gone.

How oft’ have we told these young ones

Of a far and a greater love.

The love or our dear Lord Jesus,

Who came down from Heaven above.

He came in the form of a baby;

The perfect Son of God was He.

He died on the cross for your sins and mine.

He paid sins debt for you and me.

Those who have accepted this Christ child

And have given Him first place in their heart;

He comes in and dwells there forever,

With a promise to never depart.

Now my eyes gaze into the starry night.

I’m watching for His appearance in the sky.

I’m listening for the sound of the trumpet,

Knowing He will come by and by.

I too, now fall asleep at last,

Dreaming of that eternal shore.

A trumpet blast, a look to the sky.

Ah, I’m home at last forever more!

WHAT A GRAND EVENING... "THE PIE AUCTION"

What a grand evening the Annual Pie Auction turned out to be! Together we contributed a new record for this event for the ongoing ministry of the Lord at Rainbow Bible Ranch. The audience was made up of a good cross section of people. Perhaps not all realized the ties of one another to this 38 year old ministry… but I would like to share with you some of my observations. I loved seeing the grandfather bidding with his granddaughter who has been a camper over the years. I loved watching a couple of boys that are Legacy II campers bid on a pie that was one of the high sellers. Or how about the dad, who once worked as a wrangler at RBR and is now, appreciating the fact that his daughters have served as part time volunteers over the last two summers. I was so grateful to watch a group of hunters from North Carolina. They came over with a neighboring rancher and I believe each of them purchased a pie. I am so grateful to neighbors that pitched in by making pies or purchasing pies. I am so appreciative of a former staff member that farms with her husband in Iowa and contributed four beautiful pies that she “purchased” from her sister in Rapid City. I am thankful for the small business owner in Rapid City that contributed $400.00 to purchase a pie, because she believes in the ministry. I was touched by the family and the gentleman who had recently lost his wife still show up and support the ministry, because they are behind us all the way. I love seeing the couple that shows up year after year to pitch in… he was saved here on a Friday night over 35 years ago. And I cannot forget the families that have a bunch of young kids… and they make pies… and they buy pies… because they want to support the work of the Kingdom at RBR.

There were others as well, as we auctioned off about 80 pies. You probably get the drift of the varied crowd and support group that are involved. And it is so important. I believe that God is blessing the unique outreach of RBR because it is a valuable ministry. From one perspective, I am nearly overwhelmed and I may say from another perspective… “I believe more people from some of the same demographics that were represented above should be taking a stand alongside of Rainbow Bible Ranch. I am so grateful to those of you that have proven so generous. And with God’s leading, I see opportunities that must not be hindered due to lack of funding. God does supply our needs and for many of those needs… he uses people just like you and me.

Would you please pray with me that we stay faithful and that other followers of Christ will recognize the privilege of serving together for the Kingdom at Rainbow Bible Ranch?

Annual "FUNdraising Event

Many good friends on hand for the Annual Pie Auction the other night at Rainbow Bible Ranch. We are thankful that people came together to make a new record for amount received for this "FUNdraising" event.
